SCI 4 Ongoing Activities
Architectural History (2006)
SCI 4 was viewed by the SCI team and participants as being highly productive, stimulating, and successful. Next steps at the individual, disciplinary, and institutional levels were identified by participants at the Institute’s last session (See SCI 4 Summary Document.). Following that session, the Mellon Foundation issued an invitation to the Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) to submit a proposal for: the planning of an online version and online extensions to the Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians; the planning of the future of SAH’s Image Exchange; and the investigation and planning of a digital publishing consortium between SAH and the College Art Association (CAA)
SAH’s Board met soon after SCI 4 and decided to respond to Mellon’s invitation. Although there was a very short time period (about one month) to prepare this response, SAH did submit a proposal for JSAH Online and the Development of the SAH Image Exchange into the SAH Visual Resource Network. SAH and CAA together submitted a proposal to explore collaboration. The SCI team worked closely with SAH in the conception and development of the proposals that were funded by Mellon.
